I think video of giving a different perspective of what I am trying to say about “Synthesizing Education”. Much of their discussion has comes across as integrative thinking to combine the positives of the current structure while make predictions for what our kids will encounter in the future. Most importantly, I love the underlying emphasis on changing curriculums to meet the needs of kids and encourage engagement. If you really think about what they are each saying, I believe that they are talking about new interdisciplinary approaches that allow students to solve real-world problems rather than simply memorize mundane facts or answer multiple-choice questions. I also think that they would advocate for tearing down the current “kingdom” structure that we have in place where students move from subject to subject with minimal consideration for overlap and transfer.
Would I base my curriculum revisions on the ideas in this video? No, but I would consider the implications of what they are saying and how it impacts the future of our kids.
You tell me.
